Ditcheat Primary School Noticeboard

We were invited to go to the Education Show at the NEC to talk about Primary Talk and how it works within a primary school. This invitation was in recognition of the award for our commitment with language and communication, we realise the importance of this with all the children, staff and parents. Beth gave an inspiring speech at the speaking and listening seminar, I opted to click the buttons on the powerpoint! We are pictured here with Liz Wood, the Primary Talk Manager. We had an interesting day looking around the show and learning about new innovations.

At Ditcheat School we are proud to have achieved full accreditation (100%)  at the Supportive Level of Primary Talk. This achievement is a clear reflection of how we have created a supportive environment to develop all children's communication including those with speech, language and communication needs.

The Chief Executive of I Can - Primary Talk, Virginia Beardshaw came into school with Liz Wood, the Primary Talk Project Manager to present us with the award. This was achieved through the valued support of all the children, staff, governors and parents of the school.

       Well done everyone!

We were very proud to receive the Dyslexia Friendly Status award from Doreen Grant who is one of the assessors. Doreen came into school to observe lessons and look at resources and planning for children with dyslexic tendnecies. She was particularly complimentary about our inclusive ethos. All children in the school benefit from the Dyslexia Friendly teaching methods whether Dyslexic or not, as the style supports all learners.

Willow class visited Montacute House as part of their art topic 'Portraits' they have been studying the Tudors this term so we had a tour around the Tudor portrait gallery as well as sketching, pouncing and making miniatures. The gardens were beautiful and made an ideal place for the children to make sketches of the building.

Cherry class enjoyed a visit to Manor Farm stables and met Kauto Star.

Cherry class visited the Rural Life Museum to study toys from long ago. As you can see from this picture they even dressed for the occasion.
